Gold Peak Tea

product.aspxGold Peak tea is owned by the Coca-Cola company and is served in many restaurants.  Gold Peak has a few different types of tea one of which is dispensed from a container like the one shown in the picture here.  This is designed to make preparing iced tea simpler for restaurant employees. It is a pre-made or what is considered “bag-in-box” iced tea from concentrate, with what the Gold Peak calls an “authentic home-brewed taste”. I have found this Gold Peak tea tastes very similar to the Gold Peak bottled tea you can get at grocery stores. As I said in my review of the bottled tea, I don’t care for the taste. It is a little weak tasting and does have an acidic taste. My main complaint though, when comparing to other restaurant iced tea, is that you can really tell it is not freshly brewed. Also the ingredients include: Natural Tea Essence, Caramel Color, Sodium Benzoate and Potassium Sorbate, and Phosphoric Acid. This seems like a lot of strange ingredients for a simple glass of iced tea.

Gold Peak also has a fresh brewed tea which I have noticed more restaurants like Carl’s Jr. are switching to.  It is also served at Jack in the BoxBlaze Pizza, and Baja Fresh to name a few. It’s dispenser looks similar to the one to the left and doesn’t have the four flavor buttons like the tea described above.  This is prepared in the traditional way you would think a fresh brewed tea should be prepared. When brewed well, this is a very good tasting tea, much better than the Gold Peak tea from a mix/concentrate that is described above.  I recently reached out to Gold Peak via twitter asking if their fresh brewed tea was available to brew at home.  Unfortunately as of 1/19/16, it is not. Here is there reply, “We don’t currently have tea bags available, but I’ll let our team know you’d like to see them!”
