Happy National Iced Tea Day!

Next to water, iced tea is the most consumed beverage in the world. In the U.S., Americans consume more than 3 billion gallons of iced tea a year.

Iced tea really started to gain popularity in the U.S. after the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis.  Because the summers were so hot, fair goers turned to iced tea as a way to cool down.  Then, during prohibition  (1920-1933), iced tea began to gain even more popularity because people were looking for alternatives to drinking alcohol.
